Telkomsel controls 50% of the Indonesian cellular market and maintains 140 million active cellular customers (pre paid and post paid customers) as at the end of December 2014. Telkomsel is a key subsidiary company of state-owned telecommunication giant, PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (Telkom Group). At present, Telkomsel is 65% owned by Telkom Group, the Country's strongest telecommunication services company which is majority owned by The Government of Indonesia. Other 35% remaining shares in Telkomsel was owned by Singapore Telecom Mobile Pte Ltd, a unit of Singapore’s SingTel Group.
